I wanted to create a street art project that would make people engage with it. Something that would make you smile.
I woke up at 3am with the the words "Urban Mistletoe" ringing in my ears. Even though it was March, I knew I had to do it.
My mission was simple – get people to spread holiday cheer through kisses and #hashtags.
Jes Voight and I designed, wrote and assembled a set of posters and 3d mistletoe that we spread throughout SF. We made a website that mapped the mistletoe locations, let you print your own and showed off a library of hashtagged images.
Jes Voight and I did all the web design, copywriting, product design, wheat pasting and mistletoe placing.
In 2016 & 2017 we upgraded to laser cutting. No more Xacto pains and long nights gluing. Thanks to significant others working at companies with laser cutters, I was able to learn a new program and happily let a robot do my job.
