There's a famous saying, "Good artists copy, great artists steal." And I want to be great.

So in 2017 I started a series called "Steal Series", where I take an artist who inspires me and I steal their style. Below are the pieces I created after taking inspiration from an artist.

Here's the tumblr if you want to see more of the process.

Artist 6: Noma Bar

I wanted to create a piece that was culturally relevant. Even though I had so many knots in my stomach as I was creating it, I am happy I did.

I don’t like to get political, but I felt I had to. Our President Elect has led to realities I thought we were long past. It angers me immensely to see these white supremacist groups using him as a reason to rise again. And it makes me even more angry that he doesn't care to stop them.

Artist 5: Tony Babel

I found Tony Babel when looking for inspiration for After Effects. I wanted to create a quick loop animation of a character. He has some great tutorials on Youtube and I am really happy with my little puffin.

Artist 4: Nina Geometrieva

I stumbled into this beautiful piece of artwork in 2013 and its been my laptop’s background ever since. Nina Geometrieva is an artist based out of Singapore and a lot of her work uses this same style of curved stroke edges.

Artist 3: BrosMind

I fell in love with this style as soon as I saw it. BrosMind is my favorite studio that does this style, but there are many like it.

Artist 2: Alex Trochut

I couldn't not make a piece honoring one of my favorite typography/graphic artist of all time.

Artist 1: Herb Lubalin
